Anonymised founder experience · Regulated payments
An EMI application needs an operating business behind it.
Before Nox Foundry, Alexis contributed to a UK electronic money institution application and preparation for a new EMI in Luxembourg. The work connected licensing preparation with compliance frameworks and the organisation behind the regulated business. The UK entity subsequently received FCA authorisation.
Beyond the application
From a growing business to a regulated institution.
Establishing a payments institution involves more than completing an application. The business needs a coherent organisation, clear responsibilities and compliance arrangements that can support its intended activities.
In a prior in-house compliance role, Alexis worked on preparation for a new EMI in Luxembourg, including licensing work, compliance frameworks and organisational structure.

Inside the team effort
Alexis’s prior in-house contribution
Inside the UK application process.
Alexis also contributed to the UK EMI application and was present when the team submitted it to the Financial Conduct Authority. It was a team effort within the payments business.
The UK entity subsequently received FCA authorisation as an electronic money institution. The Luxembourg experience described here concerned preparation for a new EMI.

Building operating readiness
Connect the application to the business that will operate.
Premises, accountable roles, controls and regulatory submissions are connected decisions when establishing a regulated business. Addressing one in isolation can leave work to resolve elsewhere.
That is the practical perspective this experience brings: prepare the governance and organisation alongside the licensing work, so that responsibilities are clear before the next milestone.
Experience brought to Nox Foundry
Experience that informs the questions we ask today.
Alexis brings this in-house experience to conversations about governance and operating readiness at Nox Foundry. Who owns each decision? What must be in place before the next step? Which parts of the organisation still need to be defined?
Those questions help founders move from an ambition to a structured plan for the work ahead.
